Welcome to the start of a passion project! I’m Cody Greene, and I’m excited to embark on this journey, starting with this humble blog post. I’ll be upfront—website creation isn’t my jam at all, so please bear with me during this transitional phase.
My professional start in the IT realm spans five enriching years, kickstarting in 2018 through a stroke of luck at a career fair. Approaching every tech vendor present—four in total—I faced the disheartening reality that only senior positions were on offer: network architects, cloud engineers, senior systems administrators, etc. The last employer, however, took a chance on me, intrigued by my passion for IT and my earnest quest to break into the professional space.
Coming from a background in machine operation and warehouse work, the uphill battle to break into IT was always on my mind. Armed solely with personal experience and passion projects for my own geeky satisfaction, I honestly didn’t have a lot going on to try and break into the IT world. A few days later, the same employer offered me an interview for a Tier 1 Helpdesk position. Ecstatic, I saw this as my golden opportunity to escape the demanding physical labor jobs that had left me unfulfilled for so long. I aced the interview, landed the job, and dove headfirst into learning, seizing the chance to broaden my knowledge.
Working for an MSP (Managed Service Provider), I absorbed a wealth of knowledge in record time, exposed to diverse customer environments, and forced to ‘figure things out’ on the fly. Fast forward to today—I’ve moved on to a different company, now thriving as a Cloud Services Engineer, a role I genuinely enjoy.
This website isn’t just a platform; it’s a call to action. My goal is to inspire individuals to break into IT, encourage continuous education, and foster a relentless pursuit of knowledge. I’m excited to keep posting and shaping this website into something that I’m truly proud of and I’m hoping some of you reading this will come along for the ride. Let the journey begin!
